I am writing about media bias and how watchdog organizations find these biases and highlight them for you on their websites.
Claim: Media bias allows for news organizations to present to us non-factual, opinionated information.
Reasons: The media shapes our perceptions and has control of what we are informed on.
Warrant: News organizations are being associated with party affiliations.
Backing: Fox news is known to be conservative and CNN along with most other news networks are considered to be liberal media.
Objections: News anchors can express their opinions because of freedom of speech and to gain similar audience viewers.
One of the questions following my presentation was whether it's believed if video games could one day surpass the movie industry. I found this story about the battling of sales between the newest Grand Theft Auto game and the comic-based summer movie Iron Man.
I found a website dedicated to the Hubble Telescope. This website has a photo gallery of Hubble's images ranging from galaxies to planets. Here is the link to the gallery.
The presentation on Austin going green made me think about the new ways the country has gone green. Here's an article on America's Debate on how Time magazine proposes new ways.
Here's a short article that covers a faculty debate over the Pick-a-Prof website.
This post on Slashdot is about somebody who actually SUED somebody for offering neutral feedback on ebay. Talk about bad online etiquette...
I found an interesting article on Slashdot that mentions a recent net neutrality debate at Stanford.
I thought Calpernia here made quite a nice verbal argument for her case through her use of sarcasm. Just thought it was a good example of clever oral rhetoric in my opinion.
I found this funny video about questions George Stephanopoulos won't ask John McCain. Gotta love the repeated use of the shot of the back of George's head so they don't have to lip sync any. Watch his hand move up and down over and over.
