Sexuality

In Halperin's view, sexuality is "not a somatic fact" rather a cultural effect. He explains that sexuality is not as straight forward as one may expect. For example, it generates sexual identity, yet it may not match our sexual behaviors. In this sense, Halperin views sexuality as a separate domain of human "psychophysical" nature, that individuates us as human beings.

What I find most interesting about Halperin's question of "Is there a history of sexuality," is that he says "we must define and redefine a new, radical, historical sociology of sexuality."
