Completing a Learning Record Write Up

In order to complete a Learning Record mid-term write up, you need to complete an analysis and an evaluation. The analysis is in section B (B1 at mid-term, B2 at the end of the term) and the evaluation comes in sections C1 (mid-term) and C2 (end-of-term).

Section B - Analysis

The analysis is not a simple "self-evaluation." Instead, it is an evaluation based on evidence. You need to evaluate your own learning in the framework of the five dimensions of learning and the course strands that the teacher has defined. So:

  1. Read the section at the end of the Learning Record discussing the Five Dimensions of Learning.
  2. Read the observations you made of yourself up to this point.
  3. Go back and look over the assignments you've completed thus far.
  4. Think over the evidence from your observations and assignments. What does it reveal to you about your learning in this class? How have you progressed in terms of the five dimensions of learning?
  5. Analyze your progress, being sure to use evidence from your observations and assignments to support your evaluation.

Make this analysis as long as it needs to be in order to fully analyze your progress.

Section C - Evaluation

This section is shorter than your analysis, and should be completed second. Explain how your analysis and the evidence map onto the grade criteria. How well do your efforts match the standards laid out there?

After you've evaluated your progress, make a grade estimate. This should just be a letter grade. You can use plus and minus notation (e.g. C+, or B-) but you cannot use divided grades (e.g. C+/B-). Pick one grade and stick to it.
