There are three types of writing assignments in this class: summaries, discussion posts, and a broad, sprawling category, which we will refer to as “optional writing projects.” The former are formal, carefully evaluated, and require revision. The latter are informal, evaluated on a credit/no credit basis, and do not require revision.
