How do broad cultural debates get played out locally, right here at UT? In this class, we'll consider three controversies connected to campus: the funding of the Gender and Sexuality Center, the presence of Confederate Statues on campus, and the listing of UT's courses in a national list decrying liberal indoctrination of students. Students will be encouraged to develop their own opinions on these issues at the same time as they learn skills of rhetorical analysis.
