RHE 309K Rhetoric Around Campus
How do broad cultural debates get played out locally, right here at UT?
In this class, we'll consider three controversies connected to campus: the funding of the Gender and Sexuality Center, the presence of Confederate Statues on campus, and the listing of UT's courses in a national list decrying liberal indoctrination of students. Students will be encouraged to develop their own opinions on these issues at the same time as they learn skills of rhetorical analysis. Students will also get a chance to practice their interview skills by asking questions of people who are actively involved in these controversies.
