Prepare for Essay 3

This SRA is simpler than the first two. Read the Essay 3 assignment sheet and think about what text you might want to write about as a Shakespearean translation. The text needn’t be anything remotely related to Shakespeare—in fact, it shouldn’t be consciously adapted from Shakespeare’s plays. Instead it should, as the assignment explains, somehow ‘translate’ Shakespearean characters, concerns, situations, images, language, etc.

When you’ve chosen a text to write about for Essay 3, write a one-page, double-spaced introductory account of how and why the text constitutes a Shakespearean translation. What exactly is it translating? How? This short essay will, of course, assist you in thinking about and writing Essay 3.
