Course Goal: Students will be able to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of arguments. Students will be able to present coherent, appropriate arguments of their own.

Big Ideas:
1) Arguments have meaning and help us navigate the world.
2) Different types of evidence are appropriate for different arguments.
3) We have to understand an arguer's reasons in order to evaluate his or her conclusion.
4) All arguments are imperfect.

Essential Questions:
1) Who do you trust?
2) How do you decide whether the strengths outweigh the weaknesses in an argument?
