I am interested in comparing the novel, The Wizard of Oz, to its respective film. The history behind the novel I would like to study is American economic policy. At the time The Wizard of Oz was written, there was a fiery debate concerning the gold standard and bimetallism (a standard based on gold and silver). I would like to study the parallels that can be drawn from this book and compare them to these historical events while uncovering the lost meaning in the film.

1.
I would like to know where I can find movie reviews and book reviews for The Wizard of Oz that concern the debate over economic policy at the time. I would maybe like to consider talking about economic policy today since many people are calling for a return to the gold standard.

2.
The film relates to the historical event directly through the ongoing debate concerning US economic policy at the time. I believe that much of the meaning was lost through the film; therefore, the book would be much more historically accurate when analyzed.

I basically want to compare the book to the movie and figure out what meaning was lost. While doing this, I want to cite historical evidence regarding economic policy (since that is where the hidden meaning was)
