The media has become so popular among the youth of today it governs much of our society. While our parents grew up playing football in the front yard kids today are getting started on Counter Strike. This leaves one questioning how our generation will be different from previous ones, once we're in charge. I will admit that I myself have not escaped the grasp of video games. In particular, with the technological advances that have linked video games and the internet, I find it intresting when i get on my X-box at 3:00 a.m. for some battling and wnd up competing against Germans or Australians. Video games are proving to bridge cultural barriers between the nerds of nations.
For all of you doing the Rifkin article I thought this was intresting.

With recently proposed restrictions on Gulf Coast oil and gas drilling, oil companies would be able to drill within 50 miles of some parts of the Gulf Coast. Currently the barriers lie 200 miles off the coast of Florida and already econosystem damage can be seen. Oil rigs deposit large amounts of drilling fluid and metal cuttings into surrounding waters, damaging kelp beds, reefs and costal wetlands. The drilling pollutes costal waters affecting all parts of the ecosystem there. Researchers have found fish near drilling sites with damaged reproductive organs. The envirometnal response to oil drilling outways the benifit from the possible reserves.
