E s325: Creative Writing: Fiction

beutner — Sun, 06/20/2010 - 16:46

In this workshop course we will analyze the craft and technique of published short fiction, focusing particularly on plot, structure, dialogue, characterization, and description. Students will complete short written exercises devoted to these skills and will also write one long scene and two short stories to be workshopped in class. One of these stories may be a substantial revision of an earlier work. Students will also be required to produce formal written critiques of each story workshopped in class and must participate in class discussion.
