Coursework and Grading:

Reading Journals/Assignments/Quizzes/ Group presentation 15%
Short Close Reading 15%
Short Close Reading 15%
3-4 page paper 25%
Final 5-6 page paper 30%

• To pass the course, you must turn in on time a draft for peer review or revision worshops and a polished final submission of the 3-4 page and 5-6 paper. Please consider your peers comments as well as comments from paper conferences for your final submission.

• Do not discard any drafts, notes, papers or research materials you produce during the semester until you receive a final grade.

    • Format of Final Papers:
    • All out-of-class papers must be word processed.
    • Each submission, draft and final, will be within the page limit assigned for each paper.
    • Your paper must include your name, course title, assignment name, date, and paper title.
    • Be sure to double space the lines, use one-inch margins all the way around the text.
    • Use only Times New Roman font.
    • Staple your papers together using a single staple in the upper left corner.

• Group Presentations: you will sign up for a group presentation. You will be responsible for following the given guidelines.
• Reading Journals: You are responsible for posting EIGHT reading journal entries to your blog (to be set up on the course website).You must keep track, and make sure you complete the eight before the end of the semester. Entries should be from 250-400 words and will be graded on a five-point scale.
• Assignments /Quizzes: Keeping up with the reading is a major priority for this course. In order to facilitate this goal I will be giving periodic reading quizzes and asking for discussion questions to be turned in. Various assignments fall into this category, the majority of which will be graded on a five-point scale.
• Participation: you are expected to come to class prepared to participate in class discussion.
